William J Mack IV was born and raised in Woodbridge, CT and attended Hopkins High School in New Haven, CT. After graduating Cornell University, he received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons with induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed Neurosurgery residency at Columbia University and performed a post-doctoral cerebrovascular research fellowship under Drs. David J. Pinsky and E. Sander Connolly Jr. He pursued a Fellowship in Interventional Neuroradiology/ Neuroendovascular surgery at UCLA.

Bill joined the faculty at the University of Southern California in 2010 and completed a Master?s degree in Clinical and Biomedical Investigation in 2013. His practice is focused almost exclusively on cerebrovascular Disease. He is currently Professor of Neurosurgery, Vice Chair of Academic Affairs and a faculty member of the Neuroscience Graduate Program. Bill has authored over 200 scientific articles and chapters in medical textbooks. He is the Director of the Cerebrovascular Laboratory at the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute. His overarching academic goal is to examine the effects of inflammation in experimental and clinical models of stroke and cerebrovascular disease. He has been continuously funded by the NIH for his research efforts.

Bill serves on the Board of Directors of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery and the executive committee of the AANS/ CNS Cerebrovascular Section. He serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery and on the Editorial Board of World Neurosurgery. Bill is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Heart Association. Bill is happily married to Courtney Mack. They live in Los Angeles with their five children, Jacob, Daniella, Charlie, Lexi and Emma.
