Why are the 2020 Junior Resident Courses being cancelled?
The Junior Resident Courses have been cancelled in order to protect the safety of course faculty, resident attendees, and sponsors in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a difficult decision made by the Society of Neurological Surgeons’ Executive Council. We are also mindful of the growing prevalence of travel restrictions in place for residents and faculty at U.S. academic health centers, which would preclude attendance at the courses.
How are cancellations and refunds being handled for the Junior Resident Course?
The SNS will automatically cancel your meeting registration and refund you the full registration fee of $295 per resident. No action is needed on your part. If paid with credit card, the same card will be refunded the amount charged. If paid by check, SNS will issue a reimbursement check and will mail to the address listed on the original check payment. All refunds will be issued as soon as possible. Hotel reservations have been cancelled by the SNS for all meeting attendees.
Will the Junior Resident Course be rescheduled?
The SNS is working to offer the course programming as a virtual workshop instead of an in-person meeting. More details regarding this web-based content (including dates and times) will be communicated in the coming weeks and posted to https://www.societyns.org/junior-resident-course.
Which Junior Resident Courses have been cancelled?
This cancellation applies to all three courses:
- April 2–3 at Washington University
- April 16–17 at the University of California San Diego
- May 14–15 at Mount Sinai Medical Center
Will attendees be refunded for their airline/train tickets?
The SNS will not be able to refund individual airline or train ticket costs. Please contact your airline or train company directly to cancel your reservation and request a refund. Each airline/train has its own policies regarding refunds with changes happening daily.
