Course Description: The goal of this program is to identify and discuss solutions or approaches to the many long-lasting changes resulting from the COVID pandemic for neurosurgical training programs. The program format will emphasize interactive sessions after several brief presentations by thought leaders on the educational, research and clinical components of every neurosurgical department. Interactive polling will be used to collect meaningful data to guide the SNS in helping all programs meet these ongoing challenges.
- To define the impact of COVID on Neurosurgical resident education and the potential implications for attracting the next generation of academic neurosurgeons
- To appreciate the change in administrative organization secondary to the pandemic and how it is changing the role of neurosurgical chairs and PD.
- To detail how the pandemic has changed neurosurgical research and the downstream effect on evaluating faculty candidates as well as TAP (tenure and promotion)
- To assess how various current COVID policies have altered the clinical aspects of neurosurgical training programs
